HKPAX provides a platform for arts practitioners and institutions in the performing arts industry worldwide to showcase their work to international peers, fostering collaboration and touring opportunities. Practitioners of all performing arts disciplines are welcome to apply.
What is ''International Showcases''?
- Full-length performances in dance, drama, music, xiqu (Chinese Opera), and multi-disciplinary arts; excerpt performances are allowed for xiqu’s work.
- Performance duration must be between 45 to 60 minutes. A recording of a full-length performance is required for all applications.
- Submissions may include ready-to-tour work or works that are ready to premiere. However, works-in-progress will not be accepted.
Successful applicants will be offered one to two performance opportunities at a designated venue in Hong Kong during HKPAX, where they can present their original work to a global audience. Each selected applicant will receive basic technical support from the performance venue, promotional support from HKPAX, a travel and accommodation allowance of US$10,000, a complimentary spot in the exhibition area to promote their work, and two Full Passes granting access to HKPAX events from 9 to 13 October 2026.
Applicants can save their application as a draft and return later to complete it. Once an application is submitted, a confirmation email with the reference number will be sent to the email address associated with your HKPAX account.

HKPAX offers 13 performing venues across Hong Kong for staging International Showcases. Applicants are required to carefully review the technical specifications, available audio and visual equipment, lighting support and floor plan of each venue and select ONE venue that best suits the artistic and technical needs of your proposed performance. Applicants may also indicate two alternative venues in case their first option is unavailable.
As technical facilities vary across venues, it is essential that applicants understand the capabilities and limitations of each space before submitting their application.
Successful applicants should note that HKPAX will only provide the support and equipment listed in the technical specifications of each venue. If additional equipment or services are required, applicants will be responsible for any associated costs.
Each selected showcase will be allocated a set-up and rehearsal period of approximately 12 hours, one day prior to the scheduled performance. Successful applicants must plan and manage their production schedules accordingly. Strict adherence to the setup and dismantling timelines is mandatory.

01 | Q: Can I submit multiple applications for the Open Call for International Showcases? A: To ensure equality and fairness, only one application will be accepted per applicant. If multiple applications are submitted, only the most recent application will be considered. |
02 | Q: Can I submit the same work for both International Showcases and Pitching Works? A: Yes, you may submit the same work for both International Showcases and Pitching Works. Please note that separate applications are required for each programme, and one application per programme will be accepted from the same applicant. |
03 | Q: Which art forms are accepted for International Showcases? A: We welcome all types of performing arts programmes, including dance, drama, music, xiqu and multi-disciplinary art. If your proposed showcase does not fall under these disciplines, please provide further details under the “Other” category. |
04 | Q: One of the eligibility requirements is to provide information about at least one toured production. What are the criteria for a toured production? A: We would like to know about your touring experience. Please provide details of at least one production that has premiered in its place of origin and also been performed in other cities. |
05 | Q: Will HKPAX provide all the equipment and technical support for the performance? A: HKPAX will provide the equipment listed in the technical specifications. Please note that technical support may vary depending on venue restrictions. If these provisions are not sufficient, the successful applicant is required to provide additional equipment at their own cost. |
06 | Q: If I find the setup time is not enough, can I add an additional session? A: The available time slots for each venue have been largely confirmed during the open call. You should read the specifications carefully and assess whether your work is feasible within these constraints. For complex productions, some venues may allow additional setup time upon request, subject to approval by the HKPAX team. Please refer to the Venue Technical Details. |
07 | Q: Can I select specific performance dates and number of performances during the period (9–13 October 2026)? A: Unfortunately not. HKPAX will schedule the performance dates and times for successful applicants based on venue availability and practical considerations of each art form. Each successful applicant will be expected to present 1 to 2 performances during the period (9–13 October 2026). The allowance remains unchanged regardless of the number of performances. As part of HKPAX’s broader goal to engage both the local public and visiting tourists, ticketed performances may be arranged, with proceeds going to the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo. |
08 | Q: Can I re-apply with the same project I submitted for HKPAX 2024? A: Yes, if you applied for HKPAX 2024 and were not selected, you may re-apply with the same project, provided that it still meets the current eligibility criteria. |
09 | Q: If I do not have a full-length performance video to support my application, what can I do? A: A full-length performance video is essential for our panel to fully understand the creative concept and content of your proposed showcase. Your submission will be assessed based on the video, and the performance showcase must align closely with the submitted video. For ready-to-premiere works, a full rehearsal recording is required. Unfortunately, if you are unable to submit a video of the proposed programme, we may not be able to process your application. |
10 | Q: If my proposed project is a ready-to-premiere work, am I required to submit a detailed technical requirement sheet? A: A technical requirement sheet helps us assess the feasibility of your project. However, we understand that ready-to-premiere works may not yet have fully developed technical details. In such cases, a general overview of the technical specifications is acceptable. |
11 | Q: Do double bills qualify for International Showcases? A: Certainly. We welcome applications for double bills. Please factor in changeover time within the total performance duration of 45–60 minutes. |
12 | Q: Will HKPAX provide financial support to successful applicants? A: Yes. HKPAX offers an allowance of US$10,000 to support travel and accommodation expenses. In addition, we provide venue, ticketing and promotional support for your showcase. |
13 | Q: If I have an account for HKPAX 2024, can I use the same account to log in? A: Certainly. Once your email has been registered with HKPAX, your account record is retained. Each email address can only be used to sign up once, so there is no need to create a new account. If you’ve forgotten your password, simply use the “Forgot Password” function to reset it. |
14 | Q: When will HKPAX announce the results? Will I be informed if my application is not successful? A: We plan to notify successful applicants by January 2026. Applicants who are not selected will not receive individual notifications. |
15 | Q: If I have any questions about the open call or application process, who should I contact? A: For enquiries, please email us at [email protected]. |
